Stree 2 Review
Stree was released in 2019, in all likelihood the most awaited sequel and viewers have been watching the film which is a caricature of the ‘woman in white’ ghost archetype for maintaining the horror-comedy angle even if the usage might have a few ups and downs.
The film also sees the return of its original cast members, Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, and Abhishek Banerjee. The narrative also features a whole new supernatural antagonist in the headless demon named Sarkata who haunts the town of Chanderi. The screenplay further indulges the audience with pop culture and extends the universe more than the first film did.
Rajkumar is also getting excellent reviews for his comic timing and the character in the leading role while shraddha kapoor has added some shade of depth and mystery to the character. The punch lines delivered by Pankaj Tripathi were the best and the supporting actors managed to evoke both laughter and horror.
The film, however, has some problems, particularly turning into a roller coaster when it should be on an even pacing especially in the climax which some audience found jarring. The drawbacks aside, however, the second portion of the film tries to build a wider cinema universe akin to Hollywood’s MCU which is well appreciated but in a way, is entertaining rather than accomplishing.
In general, some reviewers gave Stree 2 a thumbs up rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars, and gushed that it is a very entertaining, spooky, and captivating sequel that is enjoyable to the fans of the first film.
