Bollywood star Sooraj Pancholi was injured today during the shoot for an action sequence for his new movie, "Kesari Veer: Legend of Somnath," at Film City in Mumbai. The incident happened while filming a stunt that included jumping over a pyrotechnic explosion. But the explosion went off prematurely, causing severe burns to Pancholi’s thighs and hamstrings.

In spite of the searing pain Pancholi decided against a break from shooting. He was monitored by a medical team that was on set to ensure his safety and provide assistance as needed.

“Kesari Veer: Legend of Somnath,” helmed by Prince Dhiman, is Pancholi’s debut biopic. The movie is based on a historic battle at Gujarat’s famous Somnath temple. It stars Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, and Akanksha Sharma; Oberoi is in a negative role while Shetty plays someone who defends the temple.

Sooraj Pancholi, the son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, made his Bollywood debut in 2015 with the romantic action movie “Hero,” opposite Athiya Shetty.

There have been no official update yet about Pancholi’s current health status post the incident.
