He knocked on the doors of a prominent production and distribution company, Movietone Digital Entertainment, where he met its founder, Kavita Shetty. But when his false credentials didn’t convince her, he switched.”

Seeing an opening, he befriended Kavita’s elderly mother, who was at the office that day, too. He spoke to her in fluent Kannada, built up her trust and promised to take her on a fully-paid trip to spiritual sites with VIP access at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, kashi, and a grand darshan at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He convinced her to provide ₹90,000 to him in the name of being a Member of Parliament to make the travel arrangements.

This Is the Story of How a Trail of Deception Connected Delhi to Ayodhya

The journey from Delhi to Prayagraj began for the Shetty family on the road, but red flags popped up almost right away:

• Suresh went to multiple toll booths and refused to pay — citing his VIP status as a Member of Parliament multiple times.

• He was unable to show anyone an official ID when asked.

• On arrival in Prayagraj, it became clear that there were no VIP passes and that everything he’d promised was a lie.

Back in Mumbai, however, Acharya had sealed deals for the rights of several newly released Kannada films, claiming he had financed them. He was about to receive his first payment when his scam fell apart.

The Final Betrayal in Ayodhya

As the car approached Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir, Acharya didn’t have a VIP pass, as one might expect. He plotted to throw Kavita Shetty and her parents off his trail.

• He abandoned his family at the temple with no wallets, mobile phones or even shoes, which he instructed them earlier to keep in the car, parked far away.

• With danger looming, Kavita rushed her family back to the car.

• At the parking lot, when questioned about the expenses and his disappearance, he began to hit Kavita’s 72-year-old father, her mother and even Kavita.

Escape and police intervention

When the situation threatened to intensify, the Ayodhya police stepped in and picked up Suresh Acharya for detention at a local police post. But instead of facing consequences for his crimes, he:

• Would not show their identification.

• Took ₹90,000 from the Shetty family and did not return it.

• Pay off the cops with ₹5,000 and escapes in the dark of night.

The following morning, Kavita Shetty sprang into action. Through the crime reporter Ravi Prakash Srivastav of Dainik Jagran, an internal inquiry was conducted at Ayodhya Kotwali and an FIR was properly registered at the Ayodhya Police Station.

The police officers who investigated and cracked the case, CEO Ashutosh Tiwari, Kaptaan Nayyar and SHO Manoj Kumar Sharma ensured justice by:

• जब पहचान पत्र (आईडी) मांगा गया, तो वह कोई भी प्रमाण नहीं दे सका।

• प्रयागराज पहुंचने पर, यह स्पष्ट हो गया कि उसके पास कोई वीआईपी पास नहीं था, वह सिर्फ झूठ बोल रहा था।
