Guru Randhawa Punjabi Movie gets into Controversy

Ever since the trailer of his debut Punjabi film Shahkot was released, Guru Randhawa found himself all over social media in an undesirable way. This issue has largely been focussed on allegations that the film promotes a pro-Pakistan narrative and which is in turn causing widespread protests in Punjab, primarily from groups such as the Shiv Sena Punjab. Demonstrators set fire to images of the movie, calling it anti-Pakistan and alleging that it hurt patriotic feelings.
In this trailer, Guru Randhawa plays the concept of going to Pakistan and as soon as he reaches there, it's Pakistani girl falls in love with him. The India-Pakistan track in the plot invoked mixed reactions, some even went to say that it was unarguably insensitive to both sides on capitalizing over a strained geopolitical situation of two warring territories. Critics have also taken the censor board to task for clearing the film, suggesting that it was wrong on its part to let this content pass.
Guru Randhawa has broken the silence on the controversies and has requested fans to watch not only the film but also most importantly, he said — NOT TO JUDGE a movie from its trailer. He said the film was a love story and added that once people watch the movie, this controversy should be soft-pedaled in no time. In questioning the severity of the responses, he pointed out that similar films made in the past did not receive as much backlash.
But these promises have failed to quell the protests, as voices called for the film to be censored or even banned.
The question arises the base story of a love story between two people who belong to India and Pakistan was captured in Gadar 1 and 2 both, but no issue was created, then why this film? Something Fishy here, either a publicity stunt or some opponent of Guru Randhawa playing fiddle here .
