Call Me Bae Web Series Review
“Call Me Bae” is a new web series on Prime Video featuring Ananya Panday as Bae, a privileged, wealthy socialite whose world is turned upside down when her extravagant life is abruptly taken from her. The series follows her journey from riches to rags, where she must navigate the challenges of surviving in a more grounded reality, blending humor and self-discovery along the way.
Ananya Panday delivers a surprisingly engaging performance, with many reviewers praising her portrayal of Bae. She captures the essence of a pampered but lovable heiress, drawing comparisons to characters like Elle Woods from Legally Blonde.
The show is lighthearted and humorous, driven by witty dialogues and amusing scenarios, such as Bae’s hilarious struggles to adapt to everyday life
The series offers a mix of comedy, drama, and social commentary. While it starts strong with a compelling premise, some critics feel that the narrative becomes somewhat scattered as it progresses. The show’s genre and direction seem unclear at times, which might make it feel disjointed for some viewers.Nevertheless, the vibrant production design, appealing costumes, and entertaining ensemble cast help to keep the show engaging.
Although there are some flaws in the show , like the character Varun Sood plays is a gym trainer but he suddenly becomes a IT hacker which is a bit absurd. Ananya Pandey’s father is always in a panic mode and absent in the show . Ananya Pandey’s character is in a confused state of mind where she is in love with her boss Neel Nair but she dreams of her husband too . Its a confusion which continues till the end . The makers of the web series have left an open ended end here probably for a Season 2 opening .
Overall, Call Me Bae is an enjoyable, light watch that leans into its absurdities, offering a mix of laughs and drama. It’s particularly recommended for those looking for a feel-good show with a modern take on a riches-to-rags story.
